Dovewing is a ShadowClan daylight messenger under Tigerstar's leadership in the lake territories, formerly a ThunderClan ranger under Firestar and Bramblestar's leadership. She was born to Ashfur and Whitewing alongside her sister Ivykit as Dovekit shortly before Ashfur was murdered, Birchfall becoming her stepfather soon after. Dovepaw was later promoted to an apprentice with Lionblaze as their mentor, further on promoted to a warrior by the name of Dovewing.

Omen of the Stars

Dovekit was born alongside her sister Ivykit to Whitewing and Ashfur, the latter being murdered shortly after their birth. Birchfall and Whitewing began courting each other before settling down as mates and Birchfall as Dovekit's loving stepfather. Dovekit and Ivykit often asked about their deceased father, but no cat ever responded more than "He was killed by a passing rogue". Two older cats in the Clan, Jayfeather and Lionblaze, often came to visit Dovekit and her sister an unusual amount. Dovekit took a fancy to them and often talked to them, one time asking if they could hear the cat undergound, which Lionblaze and Jayfeather would show signs of uneasiness about.
